Greetings! Congratulations on taking the first step toward mental wellness!

My name is Melissa, and I am a licensed professional counselor in Oklahoma. I have experience working with individual youth and adults, as well as couples, in the outpatient setting. Most of the work I do is helping clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, postpartum, transitions, grief, chronic illness and other challenges. I have worked with diverse individuals in regards to culture, profession and experiences. I have unique experience working with tornado and weather related trauma, in addition to military families and first-responders. It is important to me to recognize client strengths and instill hope from the get-go! I like to use my refined communication skills to develop a trusting relationship in which clients feel free to openly express themselves. I enjoy validating feelings of my clients and helping them understand their dreams and treatment goals for optimal mental health.

I use evidence-based treatment methods such as cognitive behavior therapy, solution focused therapy, motivational interviewing, narrative counseling, and a client-centered approach. I guide clients to learn new tools for coping and keep them accountable to apply them for relief in their daily lives. I encourage, challenge and guide my clients to reach treatment their goals. When appropriate, I utilize referrals in order to achieve a holistic approach and overall mind and body connection.
