About

Hello! I’m Melissa, I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker practicing in the state of North Carolina and I am so thrilled that you are here! I would love to help you in your therapy journey and I would really like to share a little about myself which may be helpful to you as you search for your right fit.

I'm a big believer in better understanding the relationships an individual has in their lives, including friendships, romantic relationships and most importantly the one with themselves. In this process, I encourage authenticity to explore attachment styles and to help you build the relationships you want.

What I find most important is connection and communication. My goal is to foster a warm, open hearted therapy experience to work along side of individuals to identify social, physical, emotional, spiritual, and personal goals that break down barriers to achieving healing and joy.

My specialties lie in treating depression, anxiety, ADHD/Neurodivergence, grief, mood disorders, unhealthy eating patterns and self image, trauma, life changes and transitions. My training has included various models and I utilize multiple therapy interventions including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, Mindfulness Training, and grief counseling in dynamic capacities to address each individual’s needs. I also have experience with the importance of health and nutrition as a factor in mental health. Some of this comes from my own experience and drove my interest in this particular area.

I'm super passionate about Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and can testify to the healing work that can happen with horses.

I have had some vast opportunities in the mental health field. My experience ranges from working as a school based therapist to serving nursing homes and assisted living facilities to private practice. Each of theses have offered unique perspectives. Continuing education and being informed of new interventions is very important to me and therefore I am always trying to challenge myself to learn and grow.

Whatever your goals, wherever you are, I am here to help, empower, be a supporter, and cheerleader through the process! I look forward to meeting you!
