Hello! My name is Melissa Fowler.

First, kudos to you for looking into getting help, this is the first step towards overall wellness and it takes a lot of courage.

I would like to tell you a little bit about myself before we get started on our journey to wellness. I graduated from a state college in Ohio with both my BA and master’s degrees. I am licensed in mental health counseling for all ages and populations. The past seven years, I have been working at a community mental health agency and often work with people who are struggling with depression, anxiety, and substance abuse. I have been a counselor on Find A Therapist for two years now and I really enjoy helping people through this telehealth platform. I find that my clients find it pretty convenient and user friendly.

I believe counseling can be a beneficial way to a find healthy balance in your life. Sometimes people need an unbiased party to talk to during difficult times or times of life transitions. I also believe counseling is your time to talk about whatever is on your mind, free from judgement. In therapy, I usually start with what you believe is the most important area you think should be worked on and what goals you would like to accomplish, in and out of counseling.

You may be interested in the types of therapies I favor and they would include Reality Therapy, Existential Therapy and CBT. I often resort to basic talk therapy as well. I find it rewarding when I can help my clients find meaning in their lives, find empowerment within them selves, and find overall wellness. Hopefully, we can also explore some coping skills and self-care techniques that will allow you to better handle life's stressors by modifying possible dysfunctional thoughts, behaviors, and emotions.
