Hi there, I'm Melissa! My name is Melissa Erb and I am a licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) based in San Diego, California and working with clients state wide via telehealth. I work with adults and adolescents specializing in managing anxiety, depression and life changes. I also specialize in the area of adoption and foster care. By using various treatment modalities such as Mindfulness Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, this helps in meeting my clients "where they are at." This also creates an approach for clients to begin at the pace they feel comfortable with. My approach My approach to therapy is not a one fit for all approach in working with clients. Depending on what the presenting issue is, we will work together to navigate a path for the clients progress. I most frequently use the modality of Mindfulness Therapy, which is a type of therapy that focuses on learning how to be more aware of thoughts, feelings, emotions, surroundings, and situations, and to reduce automatic responses. This also helps the client build a shared understanding of their reality, enabling myself and the client in working together in developing treatment goals. My focus I have found that by using the above mentioned treatment modalities, it helps adults and young adults who are facing difficult life transitions. Whether, it is struggling with intimate break ups, divorce, career changes, loss or financial strains, this could lead to anxiety, depression, stress and at times suicidal ideation. I focus on working with clients to build skills using brief crisis interventions or to help in building a more positive and hopeful outlook with their day to day. My communication style My communication style is to meet my clients where they are at and to have them be the expert of their story. My style is open, non-judgmental, transparent and patient. It is most important that a safe space is created so that clients can also feel they can be transparent without judgement.
