Hello, my name is Melissa Burke and I have been working as a therapist for 13 years. I am licensed in the state of Massachusetts where I live with my family. Over the past 13 years I have worked with many individuals struggling with a variety of issues. I have experience working with people with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, gender identity issues, relationship issues, parenting difficulties, grief, postpartum struggles, ADHD, and many other challenges.
All people need support sometimes and therapy can be a great way to get that. I work from a mindfulness-based, non-judgmental, compassion-based, strengths-based perspective. I believe that every person has a story and that story deserves to be listened to and acknowledged as their individual experience in the world. I believe that within that story everyone has challenges and strengths and that as they are identified the healing process can begin. I am also a proponent of cognitive behavioral therapy as I feel it is an important and effective way of working very clearly with unhelpful thought patterns that can keep a person stuck.
