Hello! My name is Melissa Plourde, and I'm a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker from Massachusetts. I have spent 20 years working with children and families in one setting or another; most recently I've been a counselor for the past 12 years. I have worked with clients with a wide range of mental health concerns including depression, anxiety, family conflicts, relationship issues, parenting issues, and have worked extensively with adolescents and adults including both individual, couples and families.
My counseling style is really dependent upon the individual needs of my client and what best fits the situation. I like to just spend the first few sessions getting to know you, and then together, coming up with goals or topics that you'd like to focus on in counseling. To me, establishing a trusting, empathic, judgement free environment is the key to building a relationship that will support and empower people to achieve their best selves. Although my approach is always collaborative, I will definitely challenge you and be direct in order to help you find what will help you on the road to improved mental health.
