About

Welcome to your new journey I'm glad you're here! I am a native Texan and Licensed Professional Counselor with over 7 years of experience working with individuals that present with a variety of issues such as; Trauma, Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence, Severe Mental Illness and Substance Abuse. A majority of my experience comes from work in the Non-Profit sector working with those with the fewest resources and greatest needs in the community. I have worked in both group and individual settings and use a variety of therapeutic skills and techniques including DBT, CBT, Mindfulness, Solution Focused Brief Therapy and Narrative Therapy. I am open to short-term solution focused therapy as well as longer term therapy and crisis intervention.

After many years of experience in the field I have learned that no one approach or modality works for all individuals. Some individuals find relief in a diagnosis, others are plagued with shame and guilt. Some individuals take medication to help their issues and some don't or can't. Some find that emotional "venting" to a therapist is helpful, others want suggestions and solutions. Whatever the case and cause of your issues may be, there is hope. There is hope even when you feel that you have tried just about everything to make it stop just to get some peace. That's because you still have your Self. YOU are your own expert. Buried within you, however deep, are the answers to your issues. It's my job to be a custodian on your journey to help you be able to seek these answers, implement change and create a life full of peace and contentment. I know what you may be thinking "yeah well it isn't that easy." It's not. Therapy is hard work and in order to create the change that you want you will need to take what you learn through therapy and implement change in your daily life outside of therapy. I find that for most clients a multi faceted approach works best in helping you to achieve your goals. I combine knowledge that I have working with different disorders and life events through the lens of Western Medicine with concepts and approaches from Eastern Medicine. I strongly believe in a mind/body connection and that one cannot be well without the other. Together we can incorporate which aspects of these approaches feel True to you to create a unique and individualized ex The foundation we create can greatly assist you in making the changes you feel are necessary to stop yourself from simply existing and start living.
