My experience consists of working with children, adolescents, young adults and adults with various mood disorders in both privileged and underprivileged settings. I’ve worked in hospital and non-hospital settings providing services that range from case management, individual, family and group therapy, emergency room crisis assessments, to wraparound community mental health services for adults with severe mental illness. My approach is compassionate, supportive and direct. I am committed to highlighting and building upon an individual’s strengths and insights, while teaching and encouraging the use of various evidence-based skills such as DBT and mindfulness outside of sessions to increase awareness of and the ability to effectively navigate one’s internal experiences and behaviors. I utilize ACT to assist clients in exploring their values and what it looks like to move toward a life of meaning on a daily basis – this entails expanding one’s tolerance of emotions we oftentimes label as “bad/negative” or uncomfortable. By accepting what’s not within our control and intentionally engaging in behaviors that align with our values, we live more fully in the present and move closer to what matters. I believe that developing an honest, authentic therapeutic relationship is key to making changes. We’ll work together to identify goals.
