About

Hi there! My name is Meagan Schmidt and I am a licensed professional counselor in the state of Montana. I have worked in private practice, school setting, as well as doing in home therapy and Day Treatment settings. I have worked with clients who have a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, relationship issues, family conflict, parenting problems, self-esteem, ADHD, stress related issues, and communication difficulties. I have also worked with many people who have experienced trauma, including physical, sexual, verbal, and/or emotional abuse.

I became passionate about working in this field through traveling and meeting different people with unique life experiences who were seeking a more fulfilling and happier life than what they were living. I noticed that through their process, they would incorporate different ways to express themselves as well, such as dance, music, arts, and play. I believe that we each have a unique responsibility to live our lives to our full potential, and sometimes that means needing support from others along the way to meet our full potential. It takes courage to take the first steps towards a change to meet your full potential and seeking a more fulfilling and happier life.

As a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, my style is collaborative, interactive, empathetic and validating. I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion, and I do not believe in stigmatizing labels. Genuine care can go a long way in helping client's heal from some of their deepest wounds. My role in the therapeutic partnership is to strive towards understanding you, your perspective, and situation. I will provide support and empower you through your healing process, as well as ask explorative and sometimes challenging questions to help understand your situation and goals. I take an integrative approach to therapy, combining humanistic, psychodynamic, and cognitive-behavioral approaches, meeting you where you are. I can also incorporate expressive arts, play and/or sandtray in our sessions together, if preferred.

I look forward to meeting you and working with you!
