In making the decision to find a therapist, you are already taking an important and challenging step toward growth and change. Let me tell you about myself to help you decide if I would be a good fit.
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Texas and work with clients across the lifespan, from ages 5 to 90. Aside from individuals, I also work with couples and families and have facilitated some process and psychoeducational groups. Earlier in my career, I worked with older adults, and with adults with chronic mental illness.
My approach with clients is very relational. I believe that a strong rapport is necessary to best support my clients in working toward their goals in therapy. In addition, so many of the issues that bring people to therapy in the first place can be traced back to ruptures in important relationships, so building a strong therapeutic relationship that can weather potential disconnection and conflict is a corrective experience that can be quite powerful. Most of us humans are doing the best we can with what we have, and I try to help clients who might be struggling to see a way out to recognize and celebrate their resilience, re-authoring the story they have been telling themselves.
