Hello, my name is Maurice J. Ponder and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Virginia. I received my Masters of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. I have been in the mental health field for the past 10 years and I have a heart for individuals who struggle to cope with life’s stressors. I take an eclectic approach to therapy; I have a desire to see individuals meet one’s goals, grow, and live life to the fullest. I have worked in several different settings over the years, including detoxification units, crisis stabilization units, and psychiatric hospitals. Additionally, I have worked with various populations throughout the years ranging from children and teenagers who struggle with Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder, anxiety, and depression to adults who live with bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, and schizophrenia. Currently, I serve individuals in a public mental health agency where I assess and work closely with individuals who battle with a serious mental illness daily.
