I am a proud NEPA native that graduated Marywood University in 1992 and gathered 28 years of social work experience beginning my career in child and adolescent mental health. I followed my interest in medicine as a medical social worker at Moses Taylor Hospital for 8 years then worked in long term care and hospice until 2008. At that time, I worked with the homeless to help them find and maintain permanent housing while case managing their medical, substance abuse and mental health issues. I understand the world of addiction and the opioid crisis and the toll it takes on people and their families. At the same time, I am the sole proprietor of geriatric mental health counseling in assisted living facilities in Scranton, Poconos, and Lehigh Valley. I obtained my certification in grief counseling through the American Academy of Grief Counseling. I specialize in depression, anxiety, life transitions, grief and loss, stress, illness, end of life issues, caregiver/ healthcare worker fatigue, trauma, suicide, opioid/substance abuse issues for those struggling and their families, and most recently quarantine fatigue and stress related to COVID 19.. I use a cognitive behavioral approach with a relaxed and compassionate personality. So many things today have us believing that this is "our new normal" but in some cases it is accepting that, but in others, we can work together to see that life can be good again no matter what and work to make small and big positive changes..
