About

Life is challenging. It can be full of change and uncertainty. I believe each of us deserves respect, compassion and empathy as we move through times that test our ability to cope, to increase psychological flexibility and foster resilience. It can be tough. It takes curiosity and a willingness to explore and discover those skills, processes and behaviors that help us to flourish. I believe we each have inner wisdom and experiences that help guide us, and that sometimes it is beneficial to have the aid of a respectful and caring outside perspective to move towards wellness and increased life satisfaction.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with 20 years experience in psychology, counseling and behavioral health in two countries. I believe each of us deserves compassion and empathy. I work collaboratively utilizing a person-centered, integrative approach that honors experience and self-knowledge, even if it sometimes seems that our knowledge is hidden from view. I incorporate a variety of therapeutic modalities including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which works with thoughts, values and mindful awareness, to learn to work with emotions and thoughts even when they are difficult, and to discover and meet individual goals based on values, motivation and practical considerations. I help people enhance and develop new coping skills, explore possibilities and foster workable solutions. I believe wellness includes awareness of the whole person including physiological somatic awareness integrating mind and body. I help people become mindful and present oriented to assist in regulating emotions, reduce anxiety, decrease worry and focus more effectively on self-compassion and appreciation. We all have strengths. Effective counseling helps us recognize and recall our strengths, while honoring our self-care needs and learning how to change our responses .

I have worked with a wide range of people of all ages and through various life transitions and change including anxiety, depression, traumatic experiences, health issues and chronic illness, grief, relationship issues, parenting, career challenges, and life changes. My experience has shown me that each of us can find ways to flourish with the attunement, support and respect of others.

The decision to ask for help, to engage in the exploration of possibilities, processes and behavioral change can be both exciting and stressful. I looking forward to joining you with curiosity and willingness in this process.
