About
It appears that the world is opening up again! There has never been a time like the last two years we've lived through. There are threads of excitement for reconnecting and engaging in pubic life again, and many people remain uncertain, anxious or depressed. My goal in working with you is to support you through your challenges and help you identify and utilize your internal capacity to cope, connect and live a meaningful life. I support individual adults living with depression, anxiety, and challenges with life transitions such as career stress and/or changes, chronic illness and relationship problems (personal and professional). I also specialize in coping with grief from a variety of losses (death, divorce, friendship loss, illness) and bring expertise to situations related to care-giver stress and end of life decision making. I have special interest and expertise in supporting healthcare professionals navigating these difficult times and the challenging healthcare system that exists.
I work with you to create a therapeutic plan that fits your needs. I incorporate what some call a "strength-based approach" or "Positive Psychology". This means my approach utilizes your skills, traits and patterns of thought and behavior that are positive and to your benefit. Whatever obstacle or challenge you may be facing, I believe you inherently have the ability to address your challenges and be content and fulfilled in your living. My working style brings elements of deep listening and direct communication wrapped in a blanket of compassion and hope. I have over 20 years of experience working with people in a variety of settings including clinic, hospital and home. I have a masters degree in social work (MSW) and am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW). My training and experience includes Narrative Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, Trauma Informed Care, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I also bring a the lens of "brain science" to my work, acknowledging that the mind, body and spirit are all connected and that the human body is incredibly resilient and has the ability to adapt and change. I have worked closely with my partner, a trained therapy dog to provided Animal Assisted Therapy, but alas the digital format does not support this work. The work we may engage in is important, and I consider it a privilege to work with you.
