About

I am a licensed clinical mental health counselor licensed in North Carolina with over 8 years of experience working as a counselor and therapist. I have worked with clients with a wide range of concerns including depression, anxiety, relationship issues, parenting problems, career challenges, and various mental health diagnoses. I have had the privilege of working in both outpatient and inpatient settings, in order to assist individuals in progressing towards their personal goals. I have also helped many people who have experienced physical trauma or emotional abuse.

Theoretically, I work from a Cognitive-Behavioral, Person-Centered, and Solution-Focused approach. A Cognitive-Behavioral approach focuses on behavior and how behavior is reinforced or negated by what happens as a result of the behavior occurring. A Person-Centered approach is based on the philosophy that people are basically good, while also acknowledging that people must advance developmentally to become what they are intended to be and reach their full potential. A Solution-Focused approach focuses on the future and encourages the client to establish meaningful personal goals, as well as identify the available resources to reach those goals.

The theoretical approach that I utilize integrates all of the aforementioned theories and their techniques, in order to personalize counseling and make it as effective as possible for each individual client. As a client, you are in complete control and may choose to terminate our counseling relationship at any time. In my experience, the most difficult step in the counseling process is the first step; and that is being willing to ask for help.
