Hi, my name is Matthew Carlson. I joined the Find A Therapist network to expand my reach with new potential clients. I come from a military family, have volunteered as a firefighter and medical first responder since 2004. I operate Challenger Point Practice, a private practice located in Winter Park, Colorado and also offer teletherapy here on Find A Therapist. I have two licenses, one for mental health, another for addiction counseling, and have been in practice since 2012.

I love to help people grow, change, and recover. To do that, I use eye movement desensitization and reprocessing, prolonged exposure, and cognitive processing to treat trauma. Considering EMDR has a physical component to the treatment, I have adapted to using an online bilateral stimulation (BLS) website to allow me to remotely control BLS during processing sessions. With couples, I use emotion focused therapy (EFT) and hope focused marriage counseling. Considering substance use, I often times use EMDR to reprocess triggers to use, and a combination of cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, pharmacology, and harm reduction to enhance recovery.
