Hello! My name is Matthew and I'm excited that you found your way to me. I am a Licensed Professional counselor based in Pittsburgh, PA with 8 years of work experience doing psychotherapy and counselling. I have experience in helping clients with a range of issues including but not limited to: trauma with a focus on EMDR intervention, LGBTQIA+ issues and gender affirming care, intimacy/sex and couples counselling, addiction, substance abuse, and recovery related issues. For the last five years I've worked primarily with individuals living with HIV in a non profit medical practice in Pittsburgh's East Liberty neighbourhood.
In regards to education and background, i was born and raised in the greater Pittsburgh region. I graduated from the university of Pittsburgh in 2005 with a BS is psych, Chatham University in 2014 with a MS in counselling psych, and earned my LPC in 2017.
I have a very eclectic and integrative style to treatment with a heavy Rogerian approach; I.e. my job is to meet you where you are at, to not judge you, and use any/every intervention at our disposal to improve your quality of life. My process involves assessing your background and needs, creating treatment goals, and using evidence based interventions to achieve said goals.
I try to be practical, and authentic with my clients. And I expect the same from those same clients. If you feel like you're ready for change and need a venue to make that happen, I'm your guy!
