Hi. My name is Matt and I'm glad you are here! If you have some concerns, worries, questions or just some new life goals, I'd be happy to work with you. Let's talk! If you would like to read more about my approach and background, I hope I can answer your questions below.

My approach to counseling is Person-Centered, meaning that we will start exactly where you are in your life. We can always talk about your past and future if you wish, but I want to respect what is going on for you right now. I can help you figure out your goals, and we can dive right in if you wish. My hope is to create a supportive, nonjudgmental and comfortable counseling experience. I also try to bring in a bit of humor, life can be pretty serious!

My primary experience is in the areas of anxiety, depression, relationships, OCD, spirituality, stress-management, healthy communication, substance abuse, recovery from trauma, academic difficulties, self-esteem, assertiveness, career problems, and divorce. You don't have to have a serious, specific issue. You may just be trying to figure out your life, or work on becoming an even healthier, happier person!

My education is in the areas of Social Work, Psychology, Education and Mental Health Counseling. I enjoy working with people of many ages and all backgrounds. I began my career as a School Social Worker, and have also worked in the areas of substance abuse, corrections, crisis-counseling, family advocacy, and brain-injury rehabilitation. I am from Michigan, and have also lived in Minnesota, Florida and the UK.

I enjoy reading, painting, hiking, movies and listening to music.
