ABOUT ME
My name is Maryehdiah (Mar) Giah. I am delighted that you have decided to come to seek professional help for any issues you maybe encountering. I must applaud you for taking this initiative because it is not easy for one to make a decision to talk to a stranger about their mental health, or other private issues. You have made the right decision as it is important to talk to someone we can trust when feel pain; whether it is physical or emotional pain. Welcome.
I have a master’s degree in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. I have been in the Social Services field for over 20 years, but I received my therapy license since 10/26/2015 as an added bonus to interact/serve patients better. I have experience in working with adolescents and adults ages 20 years old and above. The passion that interests me in this profession has assisted me to be very attentive to my patients while in sessions. I am a Therapist that give all of my attentions to patients during our sessions because I believe that everyone who desires to express his or her feelings to a professional deserves such professional undivided attention.
My main style of therapy is the person centered therapy model as in the Carl Roger’s theory, while integrating other approaches like cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness. This work is interactive and individualized. We will discuss your concerns, concentrate on your priorities, and work together to accomplish your goals. I believe that even though one may need help but he/ she can contribute to solving his own problems with the professional assistance in therapy, hence I collaborate with my patients to meet their therapeutic goals. I have worked with patients with concerns regarding stress, anxiety, depression, relationships; marital, grieve, life changes, and parenting issues, as I believe working through those challenges presents great opportunity for personal growth. I will be there to guide you, encourage you, and possibly even challenge you if I feel you are unknowingly allowing obstacles to stand in your way.
