About

I am a licensed clinical social worker in Philadelphia, PA who has worked in the mental health and social work fields for over 12 years. I have worked with individuals, families and groups in a variety of settings addressing needs related to anxiety, stress, depression, life transitions, trauma and abuse, family challenges, and parenting stress.

As a therapist, I am guided by the belief that all people possess strengths and resilience that can be tapped into even during the most difficult of times. This strengths-based approach is how I enter all therapeutic relationships. You are the expert on yourself! As you begin this therapeutic journey, I encourage you to trust yourself and treat yourself with compassion as we seek to unlock your capabilities and strength.

My style of therapy draws most often from Cognitive Behavioral Theory (CBT), motivational interviewing, and short-term solution-focused therapy models. These three intervention approaches are client-centered and seek to find clarity, purpose, and focus when challenges seem out of control.

I also have undergone extensive trauma training, specifically understanding how trauma and abuse affect the brain. New research helps us to better understand the mind/body connection, and gives options for therapeutic approaches where traditional talk-therapy often falls short. I incorporate many breathing and meditation practices to help individuals calm the stress response, feel grounded in their bodies, and regulate intense emotions.

Finally, as a therapist, I am acutely aware of systemic inequalities in our society that disadvantage some and privilege others. I have worked with individuals and groups who face discrimination due to race, gender, cultural background, immigration status, disabilities, religion, and age. It is very important to me that all people have a safe place, free of judgment, to explore their needs and strengths in therapy. Therefore I listen intently and provide validation and empathy with all clients.

I applaud you for taking this step to get help and seek new growth in your strengths and capabilities. I count it a privilege to walk with you along this journey.
