Hi! My name is Mary. I've been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California for over 10 years. I earned my Master's of Science in Counseling with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Counseling and Rehabilitation Counseling from San Francisco State University in 2003. I decided to pursue my Master's because I was working with people in my community--and saw the benefits that they were gaining from working with Therapists. I decided that that was a way I could help them even more! Before that, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Women's Studies from the University of California at Santa Cruz. Some of my previous work has included domestic violence, sexual assault, school-based therapy, institutional-based therapy, group therapy, individual and couples-based therapy, family therapy and art therapy.

I have extensive experience working with individuals and families who have presented with a wide variety of issues. Some of the more common issues include anxiety, depression, substance abuse issues, and relationship issues. I work from a client-centered perspective, meeting the client where they are at regarding their need for help. Together, I work with the client to define their personal goals through the use of techniques such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Mindfulness.
