About

I've been a therapist for more years than I can count. Perhaps that phrase could be interpreted negatively. However, I believe my experience and age is an asset in helping people. I can relate to all age groups and whatever issues they may be experiencing. I have close relationships in almost every walk of life, and I enjoy their unique perspectives.
We therapists are often called the "wounded healers". Supposedly, because of our own wounds we have the knowledge to help others. Although I went through a painful divorce, my childhood and foundational values are the opposite of wounded. Therefore, I can serve you from a positive point of view but at the same time empathize with a life that is going through challenging times.
I have worked in the trenches at County Mental Health and have a heart for those navigating the difficulties of mental health issues (including anxiety and depression). I then worked as a grief counselor for Hospice. I specialized in helping family members whose loved ones took their own lives. I authored a book that gives hope through the grief journey.
I use a Cognitive-Behavioral approach, which means changing the thoughts and behaviors that do not serve you. My clients have described me as “warm and fuzzy”, but I am also direct and practical.
When I'm not doing the rewarding task of helping you, I enjoy skiing, hiking, and walking my adorable rescue dog.
I can work with you in whatever manner you are comfortable -message, , phone, or video. I prefer daytime and weekend hours.
