As a licensed counselor with almost 20 years of experience, I like to find out what interests you about counseling and what you hope to gain from the experience. When taking small steps, you can gain confidence that you can succeed in making the changes you desire to make when you present to therapy. The idea of counseling is that you learn the skills and tools to be your therapist. I use cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) which simply means using your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to help make the changes in your life that you have wished to implement, as well as cognitive processing therapy (CPT) and treating trauma.
