About
Welcome!
Thank you for stopping by and allowing me to introduce myself, and hopefully answer any questions you have about me. I want you to know, I believe the counseling experience is a very personal shared interaction between two people, the most crucial aspect of this relationship is trust. To help build this trust, I want to share with you my professional beliefs, and experiences.
I am an experienced Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Texas & a Certified Clinical Telemental Health Provider who supports clients using CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) & REBT (Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy) techniques and strategies. The combination of graduating from both medical-(University of Texas Southwest Medical Center at Dallas) and behavioral schools-(Texas Woman's University) has helped me understand both sides of the counseling process when working with clients. My passion is Brain-Neuropsychology and helping people understand how thoughts affect feelings. I often educate clients on what is normal for their developmental age and how drug use/abuse affects brain processes. Many clients appreciate this facet of my education and the way I get my message across in easy to understand terms.
I believe counseling is a joint effort, which cannot be successful without hard work, energy, open-mindedness, and courage. Counseling provides a safe place to explore reactions, thoughts, and feelings about people and situations. It allows you the opportunity to practice new ways of interacting. I believe that everyone has a unique view of the world, based on his/her role in it. Understanding none of us are individual, but rather part of a whole, either as part of a small family unit or as part of the greater community at large. This understanding, I feel, is critical to the growth process, and understanding how we are interconnected makes the process more successful. We all matter!
There are many reasons people seek counseling, regardless of the reasons, I believe an enhanced sense of self-understanding and acceptance is essential. Understanding how past experiences have shaped the way we view ourselves is important. Gaining skills to cope with these past experiences helps us when relating to self and others. I want you to know, I am here when you are ready.
Thank you for your time!
*DISCLAIMER NOTICE*
If you need a counselor who uses chat and/or messaging counseling only, please consider another option for counseling. Counseling is about your needs, not mine. I want you to find what is good for you and I am a talk therapist. Phone and Video are where I shine. I appreciate your understanding.
