About
My name is Mary, (MA, LMFT) I am originally from Santa Barbara, California. I am a trained therapist focused in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Strength Based Therapy, although I utilize a very person-centered approach when it comes to modifying treatment based on the needs of the client. My approach I utilize an integrative approach that focuses heavily on the individual strengths of the person. I like to focus on what is important for the client in terms of treatment goals and tailor my approach to their personal needs. I utilize a lot of tools from cognitive behavioral therapy as well as strength-based therapy and have significant experience utilizing tools for managing distorted thoughts. My focus I have significant experience working with young adults and adults. I have an interest in women's issues including fertility difficulties, pregnancy, and postpartum. I have experience treating ADHD, anxiety, depression, stress associated with work and school life, and trauma. My communication style I approach therapy with a very gentle and direct communication style. I think the most important thing about a therapeutic relationship is building trust and rapport and understanding that creating a comfortable environment and safe space for a client to open up is valuable. I work with clients to identify goals and outline the best and most appropriate methods for treatment. I will check in with my clients periodically regarding their goals to ensure that their therapy practice is working for them. My journey to mental healthcare I have always had a very profound interest in people. I have always been interested in understanding how people think, and what life experiences have impacted them. I think my genuine interest in people sparked an interest in wanting to help them to find joy and happiness and connect with themselves in a very healthy way. My goals for you In goal setting, I will approach the topic within the initial session.
