Hello and welcome to Find A Therapist! Whether you are dealing with anxiety, depression, anger, self-esteem, grief, or any struggle life has thrown at you, taking the step to attend counseling is one of the bravest things you can do for yourself. You are about to begin a journey filled with hope, self-exploration, and positive engagement. Whether you are seeking positive change, or just a non-judgmental ear to listen, I will support and be fully vested in YOU. I am committed to providing a safe place to help you walk through the challenges of life.

My name is Mary Beth and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Louisiana. I graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University with a B.A. in elementary education and a M.Ed in counseling. Although I provide counseling services full-time, I am a certified elementary teacher in Louisiana and taught for many years. In addition, I am a National Certified Counselor and National Certified School Counselor. I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, and families in individual and group sessions for over 15 years. Clinical issues I have most experience with include: stress and anxiety, depression, parenting issues, family conflict, self-esteem, and ADHD. Other issues I have helped clients with include: coping with grief and loss, coping with life changes, and relationship issues. I also have personal experience in working through the delicate, complicated emotions involved when caring for a medically fragile child.

You will find my counseling style is compassionate, nurturing, and collaborative. It is my goal to provide a safe, confidential atmosphere for you in order to support your journey to healing. We will work together to determine your therapeutic goals – what you want to achieve in counseling. Together we will talk, plan, process, reflect, and work towards reaching your goals. You will learn skills and techniques tailored to meet your individual needs. I use several theoretical approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), solutions-focused counseling, and person-centered therapy. Ultimately, we focus on the approach you find most beneficial.
