About

I received a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Indiana University and am Board Certified in Clinical Psychology (American Board of Professional Psychology). I have been in private practice for over 30 years, focusing especially on adjustment to stressful life events, coping with physical illnesses, and resolving relationship conflicts. During that time I also was a full-time faculty member in Fordham University’s Psychology Department, providing clinical supervision to graduate students, and teaching a range of courses including Psychotherapy Theories, Personality Theories and Research, Psychopathology, and Psychology and Human Values. My recent research projects include examinations of resilient adjustment in the personal narratives of people with cancer and cancer survivors. My academic credentials can be seen here. I am an active member of the American Psychological Association, the Stress, Trauma, Anxiety, and Resilience Society, and the Westchester Psychological Association. My scholarly/academic background gives me a somewhat unique opportunity to bring reflective practice – a synergy of clinical experience and engagement in clinically-relevant research–to each of my clinical encounters. After retiring from Fordham in 2021, I decided to devote my practice exclusively to people who have serious or chronic physical illnesses. Over my lifetime, I have witnessed many of my relatives’ experiences of illnesses including cancer, heart disease, hypertension, diabetes, chronic Lyme disease, POTS, and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. My office is located in Northern Westchester, at 378 Route 202, Somers NY 10589. Most of my meetings are conducted in person, but I am willing to work virtually for some or all of our meetings if that is a better fit for you.
