Everyone experiences challenges in life however these issues don't define who we are. I believe everyone is on their own unique journey, however internal or external events could become obstacles in achieving an individual's full potential. The obstacles an individual faces could be specific such as: adjusting to chronic illness or disability, managing chronic pain, or unresolved trauma; or life transitions such as: starting or returning to school, starting a new job, or returning to the work force. Whether specific or life transition, obstacles are often accompanied by other issues such as depression, anxiety, or self-esteem issues which could make the individual feel hesitant to discuss these issues with a counselor. I understand making the decision to meet with a counselor isn't easy, however I admire your courage for taking the steps in enhancing your personal growth and wellness.
