I am currently in my 10th year of practicing as professional counselor fully licensed in Louisiana. My clinical experience primarily includes working full-time for a prescribing psychologist (MP) providing psychotherapy for children, adolescents, and adults ranging in age from 4 years to 60+ years. While the majority of clients have been seen individually, I also have provided psychotherapy for couples, families, and small groups. I have particular expertise working with ADHD, anxiety disorders, major depression, autism spectrum, trauma, and grief. Family of origin concerns as well as current family system concerns, to include parent coaching, are also an important part of my work with many clients. In addition to my graduate work in counseling psychology and subsequent clinical experience, I have over a decade of experience as an educator of adolescents in Louisiana, Texas, and North Carolina. One area of particular interest is helping gifted children and adults navigate deeper existential concerns which are very common for those who "march to the beat of their own drummer."

I am currently working from my own private practice, MWN Counseling and Wellness. My therapy approach is to create a space for my clients to know that they can be fully seen and heard and therefore understood without judgement. I work from an existential theoretical foundation which allows me to join in authentic communication with clients and come to know them as human beings who are participating in the story of their unique lived experience, with expected challenges that sometimes require the support of therapy. It is more important for me to understand what "is happening" or "has happened" to you than to find a label for "what is wrong" with you. I seek to provide a customized set of healing and wellness techniques and learnable skills for each client. I draw from training and knowledge as well as an extensive professional library. Rational-emotive, narrative, cognitive-behavioral, acceptance and commitment, interpersonal, mind-body aware, and positive psychology driven techniques are usually good starting places to begin the work of improving one's holistic well-being. I am also an experienced guide in the development of a personal and scientific approach to mindfulness meditation and breathwork.

I believe there is always something one can do to pass through the challenges of existence (The obstacle is the way!), and through overcoming these challenges one has the opportunity to discover the richness in the struggle toward developing a whole, well-loved self.
