About
My name is Marisa. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor. I earned my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Rutgers University, and a Master of Science Degree in Clinical Mental Health from Rutgers School of Biomedical Science. Upon completion of my undergraduate degree, I have provided individual counseling and case management to individuals diagnosed with mental health and substance abuse barriers. While pursuing my master’s degree, I have interned at Camden County College providing mental health counseling, vocational, and career advisement to youth and adolescence. As a graduate student, I have launched community-wide outreach events to educate members of the community about Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault. This work strengthened my commitment to become an advocate for victims of sexual assault, domestic violence, and human trafficking. I am deeply committed to my work and this is demonstrated in my ability to connect with my clients. My goal as a clinician is to empower individuals and families, while remaining receptive to feedback throughout the therapeutic process. I use a wide collective range of clinical modalities and interventions such as Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which assists in combating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive Behavior Therapy. Passionate that therapy must meet the individual’s needs, I believes that therapy and progress are not linear, and must be tailored to the individual. I have a deep passion, advanced education, and extensive field experience that have provided me with a dynamic set of interpersonal skills that cement my effectiveness as a competent clinician.
