About
Hello and thank you for visiting my profile! I have a master's degree from Barry University and I am dually licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist and as a Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida. I have experience working with clients with a wide range of concerns including anger, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, grief, trauma, family conflicts, relationship issues, parenting problems, ADHD, and addiction. I am also trained in EMDR therapy.
There are so few places in life and people with whom we feel comfortable and safe enough to truly be ourselves, speak our minds, or open up about our true feelings. I believe in creating that safe, honest, and open space for my clients where they will never feel judged, and where no subject is too uncomfortable to bring up with me. My counseling style is empathetic, down-to-earth, nonjudgmental, and easy-going. I am open-minded and accepting of people of all different cultures and backgrounds. I draw from different theoretical approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral and Solution Focused therapies when working with my clients. I also have used mindfulness techniques and EFT/Tapping with clients in my sessions. I believe that each individual is unique and I always tailor my approach to fit each client. Above all, I believe that you are the expert on you. I work in a collaborative approach where we work together to help you achieve the goals that you identify in session. Whether you are wanting someone to just listen; looking to learn some new techniques, skills, or approaches; or seeking to gain a an understanding, yet objective outside perspective, I will follow your lead in supporting and empowering you in achieving the goals that you would like to see happen in therapy. Keep in mind that therapy is not a quick fix and requires work and commitment. It is also normal to experience some discomfort, especially at first, as we navigate the journey of therapy together, with the goal in mind of greater long-term emotional well-being. It takes courage to reach out for help and to make changes in one's life. I am here to help you on your journey to greater happiness and mental and emotional well-being!
