About

My name is Marina Tonkonogy. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with more than 15 years of professional counseling experience. As a mental health professional, my main goal is to help you navigate through the challenges you might be facing and find your center in times of turmoil. My approach to counseling is person-centered. I believe everything you experience is valid, and all your thoughts and feelings are real and important to you. Together, we will explore how you can cope with things outside of your control and how to make positive changes in the areas of your life you have some control over. In my professional career, I have worked a lot with new immigrants and those who have lived in the country for many years. As a first-generation immigrant, I know the difficulty of adjusting to a different culture. If you are an immigrant, you can count on my full support and ability to relate to any cultural adaptability issues you might have experienced. Lastly, psychotherapy is a collaborative process in which you and I both share responsibility for the outcome. It requires as much participation from you as it does from me. This process works best if you are open to self-reflection and seeing things from a different perspective. I will do my best to empower you to find your own solutions and implement them in your everyday life. I look forward to working with you!
