About

My name is Marie. I am a Bilingual (Spanish and English) LPC (licensed professional counselor) in the state of Texas and a CCTP (certified clinical trauma professional). Have years of experience working in the mental health field in a variety of settings including Crisis Management, Community, Outpatient, and In-home Services. Throughout these years I have gain experience in a broad range and severity of clinical issues, including trauma, anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, dual diagnoses, autism (mild, moderate), intellectual disability, ADHD, among other mental health and developmental conditions. Have also vast experience helping family members, caregivers, and parents of people who are struggling with different mental health, medical conditions, addictions, or intellectual disabilities, including parents of adopted children and foster parents. I use a Holistic, Person-centered approach in counseling. This means that you are the center of this process, and together we will tailor the treatment goals and approach based on your needs, meeting you where you are right now, and helping you get where you want to be. I mostly use evidence-based techniques including Motivational Interview, (CBT) Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, Family Systems Theory and Solution-Focused Counseling, however I also use some coaching techniques when needed, that will help you identify your goals and tackle your personal challenges in very dynamic approach. I would describe my style as warm, personal, and supportive. I start by getting to know you and understand the situation through your eyes, because you are the expert in your own life and story. I believe that this is your journey, and my role is to collaborate with you on establishing concrete goals and the steps that will allow you to overcome the challenges you are facing.
