About

Welcome! I have been in the field for 26 years and have experience in most settings from hospital, private practice, inpatient, outpatient and residential settings.

I specialize in mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychosis, and relational issues. I enjoy working with adults & older adults. I enjoy individual.

My orientation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) which is a form of psychotherapy that treats problems and boosts happiness by modifying dysfunctional emotions, behaviors, and thoughts. CBT focuses on solutions, encouraging patients to challenge distorted cognitions and change destructive patterns of behavior. CBT rests on the idea that thoughts and perceptions influence behavior.

I also provide Supportive therapy in that I am here to support the client through this chapter in their life that is a challenge. I would look at self-care in areas of relaxation, rest, nutrition, exercise, sleep to see if added support here is needed. Encouragement would be given along with praise. I would demonstrate several relaxation techniques that I have found to be highly effective such as Autogenic with guided imagery, Progressive Muscle relaxation, & Deep Breathing technique training. I would teach meditation and give resources designed to reframe, encouragement and increase self-esteem. I create a safe environment in which you can feel secure in saying what you need to without judgment or criticism. And sometimes we just need to vent.

I value empowering my clients by arming them highly effective and tangible tools so they may increase their confidence in their own ability of controlling their emotional state through a wide variety of techniques and coping skills.

I have an Associates in Psychology from Fullerton College, bachelor’s in psychology from California State of Fullerton and a Masters in Counseling Psychology from National University.

I continue my knowledge base and education in a wide variety of ways. I will be completing Health Coach seal and certificate later this year. I love learning from a variety of different modalities.
