About

Hi there, I'm Maria Regina! My name is Gia Reyes and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I am also a first-generation immigrant and mother. My life experiences in decades-long work with multinationals, living in different countries, and raising my children in different cultures, have broadened and elevated my compassion and empathy for the uniqueness of each individual's suffering and pain. I know how overwhelming and uncomfortable life transitions can be, so I provide a safe and nurturing space to process issues and life changes with the goal of attaining joy and contentment. My approach My approach to therapy is very client-centered and strengths-based, and always through a trauma-informed lens. I frequently utilize Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS.) My focus Whether it is a teen struggling with anxiety and depression, a family in the midst of intense conflict, a mid-life crisis, career retirement, or empty-nesting, we can find your life purpose at any age. I have lived experience in the challenges of immigrating and have a unique competency for immigration-specific issues like acculturation and generational and cultural gaps. We can work towards minimizing family conflict and learn healthy communication skills. My communication style Because each individual is unique, I tailor my sessions based on the individual's pace, timeline, and current ability and motivation to process issues - I always meet the individual where they are at. My journey to therapy I have been privileged to have undergone psychotherapy as a young adult and have personally experienced positive outcomes throughout my life. Growing up, I also witnessed family members navigate mental health issues and realized how crucial mental health care is, especially if one wishes to live a full life.
