About
Hi, I am Maria Galvan-Perry, a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. I have experience working with most age groups from children to adults. My specialty areas include depression, mood disorders, anxiety, coping skills, grief & loss, relationship issues, and crisis intervention. My mission is to support my clients through their pain and discomfort and to help them grow towards achieving hope, insight, healing, and learning skills to cope with life's challenges. My approach My approach is eclectic, as I use different perspectives depending on what works best for you. The main approaches that I tend to use are Psycho-dynamic, Narrative, CBT, Solution-Focused, Strengths-Based, and Client-Centered. My focus I appreciate working with all people and I have the most experience working with people with depression, anxiety, trauma, and relational issues. My communication style I provide an environment where you can feel comfortable to discuss and explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, in a safe and non-judgmental environment. My communication style is empathetic and transparent. My journey to mental healthcare I have always wanted to become a Licensed Therapist since I can remember. I took a detour and first worked as a case manager with homeless families, that were establishing stability, then with families that were raising child(ren) that had a developmental disability, then in a rehabilitation center with women that were dually diagnosed with a drug addiction and a Mental Health diagnosis. As I worked with people, they would talk to me about their personal struggles, and I wanted to be able to help people in a more meaningful way. I then returned to school, and after receiving training as a Therapist, I worked in a clinic, with mostly adults with depression, trauma, and anxiety, and then in school districts working with children and their parents. It is fulfilling for me to work with people in their journey and their process, in making positive changes.
