Maria M. Diz, has a Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University. She also holds a dual bachelor’s degree in Biology and Psychology from the University of North Alabama. Maria has years of experience in the areas of neuroscience and human anatomy and physiology. Maria has published multiple articles in peer reviewed journals on issues ranging from hormone effects on cognition to cognitive deterioration in normal adults and adults suffering from multiple types of dementias. During her first training internship, Maria specialized in child and adolescent psychology and has most recently trained in trauma therapy, couple’s therapy and emotional regulation. Maria combines her experiences and interests in science with her career as a professional artist and expressive arts facilitator. She is passionate about bringing together a balance of mind, body and spirit to her work in mental health and wellness. Maria’s therapeutic philosophy expressed through her diverse approaches is to help the client find meaning and personal acceptance in their lives and the consequent hope and joy that can follow.
