About
My name is Maria Llamas, and I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist providing teletherapy throughout California. I specialize in treating trauma by integrating evidence-based trauma-informed modalities to meet each client's specific needs at their pace. My approach Every individual’s healing journey is unique, and I tailor my approach according to the need of each client. I work collaboratively with each client to develop healthy coping strategies, enhance resilience, and rediscover a sense of balance and well-being. I am certified in both EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Brainspotting Therapy, all of which utilize mind/body strategies for reactions that result from traumatic events including those from childhood. My focus I evaluate and treat a wide range of clinical problems including anxiety, depression, PTSD, grief/loss, self-esteem issues, feeling tense or stressed, relationship challenges and or individuals who can’t quite understand why things feel out of sorts. I have a particular interest in working with adults who are survivors of trauma, including those from childhood. In addition, I help adults work through limiting beliefs, unhealthy patterns or painful memories that have kept them feeling stuck. My communication style My communication style is calm, accommodating, and personable. My commitment to all my clients is to hold space and bear witness to their stories as we do deep healing work from past and or present hurts. My clients feel like they have a safe and healing space to work through life’s difficulties while moving through the healing journey to navigate where they want to be. My journey to mental healthcare Throughout the many trainings and consultations I have completed to obtain my certifications and in working with hundreds of clients, I have witnessed and experienced first-hand the healing that is possible when integrating EMDR Therapy, Brainspotting Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapies.
