About
Hello, my name is Margaret Best-Collins. I'm a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist with over 15 years of experience helping adults and families resolve relationship issues, mood/emotional disorders, depression, anxiety, and trauma. My approach I take a collaborative approach when working with my clients. I will work with you to find a plan of treatment that works best for you. I will encourage you and help you decide how to move forward on the journey of being your best self. I use humanistic, solution-focused, and cognitive behavioral therapy to identify and explore beliefs and emotions that affect various areas of life, such as personal, occupational, and spiritual. My focus My approach works best for clients who want to break the cycle of being stuck and are ready to do the work; self-examination is not easy, but I will be there to support you through the process. My communication style With my clients, I like to create an environment that feels safe to talk about any issues that affect your ability to effectively move through life. I want you to feel heard and be open to hearing about potential obstacles that may be affecting your journey. My journey to mental healthcare I knew as a teenager I wanted to help people with their emotional and mental health. My parents were immigrants, so growing up as a first-generation North American helped me relate to various cultures, but also helped me to see discrepancies in how mental health was viewed. Today, I believe even more strongly that your mental health is just as important as your physical health. My core value is to help everyone feel heard and work to be their best selves inclusive of all ethnicities, races, religions, sexual identities, etc. My goals for you I work to listen to what you state are the problems and issues and then we work together to come up with a goal that is achievable and satisfactory for you, the client.
