Hello. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the state of Utah & Nevada. I started working in mental health in 2001 as a youth mentor at a residential treatment center. I have worked for over 20 years in various capacities and assignments in residential treatment including as an individual and family therapist and as a Clinical-Residential Director. I fell in love with observing my clients learning to find their own self-worth and powerful inner strength. I have 4 years of clinical experience.
I have also worked with both adults and juveniles in the correctional system. I like to encourage a sense of curiosity and humor when working in forensics. I find that not only have my client’s been through tremendous struggles they are wanting to find genuine connections. The one thing I have realized is that people want to do their best. Sometimes we just need some love, kindness, and compassion to help us along the way. I specialize in the following areas LGBTQ, BIPOC, Grief & Loss, Attachment, Addictions, and Trauma.
My therapeutic approach is laid-back, which allows me to create a safe, nonjudgmental space to make clients feel at ease to share, learn, and grow. I encourage individuals to learn skills including setting healthy boundaries, learning to communicate their wants and needs, and to cultivate healthy relationships. I believe it is important to have a strong, trusting, therapeutic relationship which allows people to live their best life. My preferred modalities include Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Informed CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy).
