About
My name is Mara Bruckner, LMFT (MFC36105) in California. My approach to therapy is warm and collaborative, using humor when appropriate. I work with anxiety (including Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, OCD, PTSD, etc.), depression and other mood disorders, and have an extensive background working with Autism Spectrum (and related) disorders. My approach I use a variety of theoretical approaches, depending on what's needed for each individual. These include CBT, (ERP when needed) behavior modification, solution focused and psychodynamic, to name a few. I tend to use CBT as the first line of treatment, but am flexible in my approach. My focus I typically work with a variety of anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, relationship issues and Autism Spectrum Disorder. My communication style I like to create a warm, accepting and collaborative environment for my clients, with some humor thrown in when appropriate. Former clients have described my style as pleasant and easy going, usually following the client's lead and encouraging any feedback (positive or negative) in order to make sure their needs are being met and the therapy is effective. My journey to therapy I majored in psychology in college and became interested in working with children on the autism spectrum. Once I received my master's degree, my interests expanded to a wider variety of clinical issues. Having been in therapy myself for many years and deepening my own awareness, I am happy to be sharing my insights with others and assist them on their road to healing and recovery. My goals for you I use a collaborative approach to establish goals with clients, and always try to make the goals observable and measurable, starting with determining what they would like to accomplish in therapy. My first session with you In the first session, I will find out the client's reason for coming to therapy, what they would like to accomplish and which issues they would like to work on first.
