About

Hi, my name is Lynda Onyshko, and I'm based in Ventura County and working with clients statewide via Telehealth. I work with adolescents, pre-teens, and adults and specialize in anxiety, stress, depression, grief and loss, anger management, and relationship issues. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance therapy to help my clients make the most progress, start feeling better, and start the road to recovery! My approach My approach to therapy is always going to vary based on the needs of each client I work with. Everyone is so different, but I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, as both modalities encourage changing negative thoughts and emotions while promoting and accepting negative emotions, feeling them, and letting them go. My focus I typically work with pre-teens, teens, and young adults who may be dealing with the challenges of life transitions and social pressures. This often takes the form of depression, anger, stress, self-harm, self-esteem issues, and anxiety. My goal is to help my clients both cope and learn to navigate transition periods in life and to build positive skills to allow them to feel better about themselves and develop a more positive outlook on life to enjoy it to the fullest. My communication style My communication style is calm, although direct; I use humor and acceptance plus accommodation. Self-acceptance, empathy, and active listening are all part of my style. I want my clients to feel safe and comfortable talking to me without judgment. My journey to therapy I decided to become a therapist because I have always wanted to help people. I had a hard upbringing as a child and always turned out to be the best therapist to someone else that I didn't have as a child.
