About

Congratulations on taking the first step toward the change you want to see in your life! It takes a lot of courage to make the decision to ask for help, and we all need help sometimes.

I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been in the field for over 10 years. I obtained my Masters of Social Work from the University of Maryland School of Social Work in 2005. I've worked primarily in a variety of outpatient clinics as a provider, and I have also worked as a clinical coordinator for a program that assisted those who were homeless or at risk of homelessness with obtaining the necessary service linkages needed to bring stability into their lives. I have worked with individuals who are struggling with trauma, depression, anxiety, significant life changes, loneliness, a perceived lack of direction or purpose, grief, and anger. My first internship was at a clinic that primarily served the LGBT community. Most recently, I worked in a clinic that worked with military members and their families who were impacted by or at risk for domestic violence.

Like many social workers, I have training in a broad range of techniques, but I primarily use Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. When I meet with a new client, one of the first things I want to know is if you have been to therapy before, and if so, what did and didn't work for you. I will also want to hear what's going on that you're concerned about, and how you would like things to be different. I will work with you to identify the method most likely to benefit you, and work from there.

One of the other things I will want to know about is how you feel your culture impacts you and your health care. In addition to several places in the United States, I have lived in England, Turkey and Germany. Through my travels, I have been to over 40 different countries and territories across four continents, which has greatly increased my understanding of various cultures and my passion for culturally competent care.

Currently I am only accepting new clients for daytime, weekday appointments. I do not currently have evening or weekend availability.
