About
I have always believed that therapy is a collaborative journey between me and my client. I have been licensed since 1984 and have spent most of that time learning new approaches to therapy. Every time I thought that I knew as much as I could about the therapy I practice, new research was added or new and different methods were found to be more effective! I primarily use Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Clinical Hypnosis, Medical Hypnosis (pain management) Stress Reduction Mindfulness and several others depending on a person needs. I have worked with adults and teens with all forms of anxiety disorders, depressives disorders, PTSD and medical conditions. I bring to my work life experiences including physical disabilities (my own, my mother and sister), adopting a baby in-utero with a methamphetamine addiction and alcoholism on the male side of my family. Given these experiences I’ve had to develop a good sense of humor, patience, empathy and creative problem solving. I call this my “toolbox” as I find that there is always something I can use from any modality I’ve learned. When we enter into a therapeutic relationship, trust goes both ways. You can trust me with your history and I will trust you with mine. As I stated before, therapy is a journey we take together. My part is to use my “toolbox” to get you from where you are now, to where you want to be. If we find other material to work on along the way, we can add it into our treatment plan. In the work we do together I remember something my mother told me “You can give a hungry man a fish and feed him for one night or you can teach a man to fish and feed him all his life” I want to give you something that will work for you in your future as new problems come up. If you are ready to work, bring your “rod and reel” and I’ll bring my “toolbox” so that we can create your personalized “toolbox”.
