About
Hi there, I'm Lisa! Hello, my name is Lisa Magana. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in California, working with clients statewide via telehealth. I work with adults and my focus is anxiety, stress, life transitions, communication, and relationships. My approach Therapy with me is supportive and evidenced based. I most frequently use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to identify and change unhelpful thinking patterns that might be contributing to your problem. With practice, helpful thinking and behavior may improve the way you experience life. In addition to CBT, I blend elements from other approaches including, but not limited to: person-centered, mindfulness, psychodynamic, psycho-educational, and strength-based. My focus I have worked with children, teens, and adults from many different backgrounds, life experiences, and challenges. At this time, I am focusing on my work with adults who are ready to realize their full potential and overcome personal challenges. I work to best understand you and repeating patterns, as well as help you clarify what it is that you want for yourself. My communication style My communication style is direct, yet compassionate. I am transparent, use humor, and provide a safe and non-judgmental environment. My journey to therapy I decided to become a therapist because I want to help people experience positive change in their lives. I believe therapy provides a unique opportunity, holding space for exploration, clarity, and growth. I am passionate about that process and want to support you through it. My goals for you My approach to goal setting is to first learn about you and your challenges. Goal setting is often a collaborative process, identifying what you would like to work on. Your goals guide our work together and provide a measurable way to track your progress. The outcome of your treatment depends largely on your willingness to engage in the process.
