About

Thank you for reviewing my profile. I am Dr. Lisa Ansell, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in the state of Colorado. I am also a National Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Certified Brain Injury Specialist with the Brain Injury Association of America. Before obtaining formal education, I graduated from the School of Hard Knocks (life, on not-so-pleasant, life's terms). I reached a crossroad and had to choose: do I let my difficult past bring me down, or do I look for the positive from bad experiences to make a difference? The choice I made included outcomes of obtaining my bachelor's degree in Psychology, a master's degree in Professional Counseling, and a Doctorate in Community Care and Counseling with an emphasis in Traumatology. Currently, I am working on a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision (CACREP Accredited Program) while also working as an Adjunct Professor teaching Human Services Counseling at the graduate level. I have been in practice for seven years and have worked in a recovery program for over 30 years.

There are many theories, techniques, diagnoses, and labels out there. It is not my place to judge or label my clients. Behaviors may meet guidelines, and there are various ways to work through issues, but I see my clients as people with the courage to walk through difficult unresolved issues and challenges in life. Each client is an individual with their issues, needs, and desire to be heard. Although I do provide counseling for other areas, I have spent over ten years researching and practicing post-traumatic stress and mild to moderate Traumatic Brain Injury adaptation and psycho-social skills; my specialty, if you will. Within a safe counseling environment, I work with clients to identify, work through, and develop new ways to react to triggers and issues that complicate professional and personal relationships.

Let me be clear and upfront. If you are serious about working through your issues and are ready to make positive changes in your life, then I am the counselor for you. I have enjoyed watching my clients have successful outcomes in therapy and have been told by clients that I make them work, and they have expressed their gratitude for walking with them on their journey. My availability stretches with other commitments in my life, so please be respectful of my time, as I will be respectful of yours. Wherever your journey takes you, working with me or another counselor, I thank you for stopping by to read about my services.
