I am excited about the opportunity of working in tandem with new clients ! My name is Lisa Levy , and I am a licensed clinical professional counselor in the state of Illinois. I have eight years experience working in community mental health counseling and private practice. I obtained a Master’s degree from Concordia University in counseling. My clinical experience runs the gamut of personal issues ranging from depression/anxiety, stress, trauma/abuse, addictions, academic, life style, and vocational choices. I have principally worked in ethnically diverse neighborhoods in Chicago, and I am fluent in Spanish. I have extensive background working with adults, and adolescents with disabilities. I have a second master’s degree in special education, and I have also worked as a special education case manager.
I believe that counseling should empower the individual in becoming proactive and participating in decision making that will positively impact their lives. I perceive counseling as a partnership and an alliance that equips the participants to determine the direction of their own lives. My vision of counseling is also a form of advocacy support, understanding, and empathy. I respect the individuality of each client , and realize the interventions need to be derived by the client's personal preferences . I am adept at working with various ethnicities, sexual preferences, ages, and backgrounds.
