About
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor in the state of North Carolina. I have over 4 years of experience counseling one-on-one and in group settings with individuals across the lifespan. I view counseling as a partnership and an agreement. I hope that the work we complete in our sessions together will transfer into those aspects of your life you value and want to change. I hope to encourage acceptance, support true beliefs, assist in finding patterns of behavior, brainstorm strategies, problem-solve difficult situations, reflect on what is working, process what seems to be unsuccessful, and revisit goals along the way. Sometimes changes will occur quickly and easily but more than likely it will take time and effort to experience a lasting change.
The core of my counseling style can be described as person-centered, humanistic, and developmental. While keeping the client’s beliefs and values at the forefront of our sessions, I integrate specific ideas derived from cognitive, behavioral, reality, and acceptance and commitment therapies. I enjoy exploring what the client has already tried and figuring out the cycle of unwanted behavior or negative thoughts so we can tackle the patterns of negativity together. I also tend to utilize mindfulness and expressive techniques into every session to facilitate creativity, gratitude, contentment, and joy. During our sessions, I educate the client about the kind of counseling I do and explain why certain approaches are being implemented. I believe that understanding the reason “why” will be beneficial in our therapeutic relationship and ultimately cause positive change toward your overall wellbeing.
I believe each client can find life satisfaction by setting and achieving small goals at a time. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
