Dr. Maxson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with extensive experience helping children, youth, and families from diverse backgrounds gain insight, cultivate coping skills, and heal through the therapeutic process. She is committed to creating a safe, validating, compassionate, and open-minded therapeutic alliance with each of her clients, and she strives to provide an environment that is conducive for self-expression as well as exploration. Furthermore, her approach to therapy is one that meets the needs of each unique individual, and supports families while they work towards increasing communication as means of facilitating change.
Lindsay has familiarity working with children, adolescents, and their families on a wide variety of topics, such as attachment, anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, ADHD/executive functioning, gender & sexual identity, as well as abuse, PTSD, and other trauma-related difficulties. Lindsay utilizes a psychodynamic approach to inform her work with individuals, families, and groups. She is also trained to provide Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and motivational interviewing. .
In addition to working as a psychotherapist, clinical supervisor, and educational consultant, Lindsay works as a school social worker within a high school setting and is a field instructor & adjunct professor at Aurora University. She has additional experience leading & overseeing multidiciplinary teams of professionals, working in nonprofit child welfare agencies, as well as community mental health organizations.
