About
Amanda is a Master’s level Psychologist and Certified Advanced Drug and Alcohol Counselor. Amanda has 12 years of experience providing mental health and substance abuse services for several community mental health agencies and substance abuse treatment programs in Southwestern Michigan counties. She also previously managed an outpatient clinic for the 4th largest behavioral health organization in the United States. Amanda earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Sociology from Calvin College and her Master of Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University. I view therapy as a collaborative space where it is safe to share life’s difficulties. I find joy in working together to learn to cope with stressors and develop healthy habits for better managing relationships, mental health concerns, and whatever situation might be important at that moment. I enjoy working with adults and couples. My primary areas of expertise include treating mood disorders such as depression and anxiety, as well as working with adjustment disorders and substance use disorders. Therapy is about helping people through situational life stressors or relationship conflicts. I utilize an integrated approach of therapeutic models, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Gottman Method Couples' Therapy. My style of therapy is very collaborative and client-led as we address the presenting issues together. I have experience in health care management and administration, so it is rewarding to working with professionals who struggle with work-related stressors, burnout, and conflict management. I will work with you to reach your goals. I believe that every person can live a full and content life. Whether you want to improve or heal relationships, navigate personal trauma, tired of fighting with your partner, or facing a life transition, therapy is a great place to address any life issue.
